Are You Part of the "Loop"?

What is a "Loop"?

The "loop" (or e-loop) is an efficient, simple way to send one email message to many people at once, and allow them to respond back to you, without anyone having to type in 600-some email addresses into their email program's address book.

How Does it Work?

When you sign up to join a loop, your email address is added to the mailing list on our ACFW server. This is secure and private, so you don't have to worry about anyone outside of ACFW accessing your address. Once you sign up, then you will start receiving messages sent to the Loop Address. You can also send messages to everyone else in the loop by using that same loop address.

What Loops are There?

ACFW National e-Loops

There are several loops you can join, depending on your interests:

  • Main Loop - This is ACFW’s the main email loop (list). All registered members are encouraged to subscribe.
  • Newcomer's Orientation Loop - Over a few weeks time, this loop will introduce you to the many different programs available through ACFW.
  • News Loop - ACFW News - the source for important announcements and information pertaining to ACFW. Posts will only be made by the Operating Board and only be sent periodically, as needed.
  • Course Loop - Learn about various aspects of craft and the writing business from experienced authors, all from the comfortable convenience of your desk chair.
  • Prayer Loop - For prayer requests.
  • Children's Fiction Loop - Discussion on writing middle grade and chapter books. Members can ask research questions and share writing resources related to your genre.
  • Historical Loop - Discussion on writing novels set in any location, in which the time frame of the majority of the story is a historical context rather than a contemporary one. Members can ask research questions and share writing resources related to your genre.
  • Romance Loop - Discussion on writing novels set in any location in a contemporary setting, and the love story is the main focus of the novel. Members can ask research questions and share writing resources related to your genre.
  • Romantic Suspense Loop - Discussion on writing novels where the suspense plot is blended with a love story. The story can be in any location in a contemporary setting.  Members can ask research questions and share writing resources related to your genre.
  • Speculative Loop (includes Science Fiction and Fantasy) - Discussion on writing novels in which the science fiction, the future, other planets, or a fantasy world are a major element of the plot or setting. Members can ask research questions and share writing resources related to your genre.
  • Suspense Loop - Discussion on writing novels set in any location, in a contemporary setting, in which suspense or mystery is the primary plot. Members can also ask research questions and share writing resources related to your genre.
  • Women's Fiction Loop (includes Contemporary, Mainstream, and Literary Fiction) - Discussion on writing novels set in any location in a contemporary setting, in which the story is targeted toward women readers of any age and issues women relate to, often involving relationships. Romance can be an element, but doesn’t carry the story. Members can ask research questions and share writing resources related to your genre.
  • Young Adult Loop - Discussion on writing novels targeted toward young adult readers, ages 12-18. The stories can be dramatic, comedic, romantic or non-romantic. Members can ask research questions and share writing resources related to your genre.
