Welcome to the ACFW Colorado
Quarterly Newsletter
Spring 2012
Hello Colorado!
Pinks, yellows, oranges, and reds brighten the flowerbed next to the sidewalk leading to my house. My rose bushes already have blossoms, and the grass needs mowing. Unfortunately, weeds are also crying for attention, and I’ve had my first sunburn. Spring has sprung!
What’s springing up in your writing world? I hope you’re trying new things, writing your heart out, and finding support from your writing buddies. Something good sprung up for ACFW Colorado members Dena Netherton, Linda Abels, Kelli Hughett, Becca Whitham, Carla Laureano, Brandy Vallance, and Michael Ehret. All are Genesis semi-finalists! Congratulations! Colorado is cheering you on.
Speaking of cheerleading, I’d like to give a shout out to ACFW CO authors as they publish, but I can’t share something I don’t know about, and I’m always concerned I’ll miss someone, so I’m putting the responsibility on YOU. Go to the member’s only section of your local chapter website or the member’s only section of the ACFW Colorado website and let us know when your book or fiction short story releases. Our webmistress, Jill Hups, will put the information up on the website, and when I do this newsletter, we’ll give you a shout out. If you don’t see your work of fiction listed in this quarter’s shout out, it’s because you didn’t visit the website and let us know about it!
Authors who list their books on the website will be eligible to be featured in the new ACFW CO Author Spotlight. This new column is coming soon to The Inkwell, our ACFW CO blog. If you are interested in coordinating these author spotlights, let me know. You’ll work with Tammie Fickas, blog coordinator, and myself. We’re excited about the growth in page views on this blog. Help us make it a “go to” spot for writers and readers. Please also let Tammie know if you’d like to write a blog post here and there.
If you follow my Member Mondays on The Inkwell, you know that the vision for ACFW CO in 2012 is to build communication, community, and a collective voice to help spread the Good News. Take a second to review the tools we offer ACFW CO members to help with this vision. And remember that collective voice happens as we support the writing our Christian friends produce. Remember those key words: link, like, love.
Just as the printing press was God’s tool to reach a whole new audience with the written word around 1450, the Internet is the way to reach the masses in 2012. Link to books and articles you believe in, like each other’s Facebook pages and statuses, and in general, love on each other thus fulfilling the law of Christ.
For you and Him...
